East Harlsey Cricket Club

Report from 2023 season

East Harlsey Cricket Club has just finished its first season since the completion of the extended and upgraded pavilion. On the pitch they enjoyed the best season for a few years. The 1st XI were second in the Langbaurgh League Division 1, the 2nd XI were sixth and won a trophy for being the highest placed second team as they mostly played against first teams in division 2, The mid-week team in the Northallerton and District Evening League were also well placed.

There was some successful All Stars and Dynamos coaching for 5-11 year old boys and girls on Saturday mornings, and Ladies and Junior coaching took place on Friday evenings. The batting square has now been scarified and seeded so that it will produce an excellent playing surface again next year.

The club would like to thank everybody who has supported us over the last few years - and we hope to see you again next year. If you would like to know more about the club please contact  PeterArcher.

General information

The Cricket Club runs four teams with opportunities for everyone who is interested. There are two teams in the local Langbaurgh League playing on Saturdays from April to September. An evening team plays in the Northallerton area league on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There is also a junior side. Next year we hope to run a Ladies team so if you are interested, please get in touch.

The club has extend the pavilion over the last two years to make it more suitable for all ages and genders. In 2018, solar panels were installed on the pavilion roof to supply electricity.

The Club offers the opportunity for everybody aged 5+ to play cricket!

For details of fixtures and results  go to www.eastharlseycc.co.uk or look at their Facebook page There is also a thriving Junior section who play regular fixtures, a Ladies Team was started in 2017 but is not currently playing.

There was no competitive cricket league played in 2020 due to the ongoing restrictions due to the pandemic of Covid19. The 2017, 2018 and 2019 cricket seasons ended with the East Harlsey First Team in 1st place in the Langbaurgh Cricket League Division 1. The Second Team finished in 6th place out of 12 teams of Division 2.

Congratulations to the First XI team who finished 2nd in the League in 2023.

The cricket field is 200 metres outside the village. And the playing area, outfield and surrounds are definitely the best in the district. As many villages don’t have a cricket team these days, players are drawn from about a 10 mile radius.  There are outdoor nets at the cricket field. Indoor nets are organised in January/February/March. Junior coaching is also available.

Spectators are welcome to come down and watch Home games and come along and enjoy a cup of tea and slice of cake! More information about the cricket club can be found at http://eastharlsey.play-cricket.com/
